2020 Vilas County Fair Cancelled Due to COVID-19
For Immediate Release
June 8, 2020
Dear Fair Family and Friends,
For the last few months, the Vilas County Fair Board has been monitoring the Covid-19 situation, as we continued to stay positive, plan, and prepare for the 104th Vilas County Fair. With concern for the safety and health of the community, the general public, our vendors, and service groups, as well as our exhibitors, volunteers, fair staff, and all other participants, it is with great sadness that the Vilas County Fair Board made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 fair (August 13th-August 16th.) Due to the evolving Covid-19 pandemic and continued uncertainty for social gatherings, as well as the financial implications, the board considered all the risks to the above listed, in making this decision.
On behalf of the entire Vilas County Fair Board, please know that the decision to cancel this year’s fair was not taken lightly. We understand how disappointing this may be, for those who plan, attend, exhibit, participate and support it. We are also very sensitive to the fact that our entire community has been harshly impacted by this pandemic, especially our area businesses. The Vilas County Fair Board takes our commitment to our community seriously, and looks forward to celebrating past traditions and making new memories at the 2021 Vilas County Fair: August 12th – August 15th, 2021
Until then, please stay safe, happy, and support each other. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Vilas County Fair Board
