WI Association of Fairs Hall of Fame Award 2025: Dale Ayers
Dale Ayers of Eagle River, WI has been with the Vilas County Fair for 41 years now. He was elected to the Vilas County Board at the Annual meeting held back in 1983. Dale had been entering exhibits as a youth when he was in 4-H. He started in open class photography, until he ended up with a detached retina; at the same time the film for his 35mm camera could not be bought anymore, as cameras switched to digital. Eventually, he lost the "good eye" for photography, but his last entry in that category won him a "Best of Show." He was also raised in a "Fair Family" with his Father being the Fair Board President and his Mother the Secretary (both for 35 years.) He would spend numerous hours helping his Father hall beer and bedding for the animals, and help out wherever he was needed; he has always been a hard worker. So, between his parents and him, they have 64 years of combined service in the fair industry; now that's impressive!
He wants every fair to be the most well-run, best possible event, for all to come to and enjoy the true experience of a county fair. He is always there when someone needs a helping hand, even if it was out of his realm of duties. He also joined the "Awards and Resolutions Committee" thru the Wisconsin Association of Fairs since 2022. Dale has stated that he would not have come this far, without the support of his family, wife, and fair board family throughout the years.
